Murphy
Murphy was sculpted in clay in the autumn of 2018. The sculpting material enables a much more vigorous handling which supports an urgent intensity in mark making. This energy and alertness reveals the temperament of an Irish terrier in a classic stance.
“This project was taken on retrospectively to pay tribute to a much loved Irish Terrier. I worked from images taken throughout Murphy’s life, offering an estimable insight into the dog’s character and meant I felt deeply connected to this piece.”
