Commissioning
Each project will begin with a discussion about subject, composition, scale and installation. Then it becomes about gathering information through further consultation, site visits, spending time with the subject taking photographs and measurements before returning to the studio to build an armature and start work in clay.

“I enjoy the collaborative nature of commissioned projects; having an external voice throughout the working of a piece encourages ideas to move in new and exciting ways.”
Holly likes to work from life where possible and encourages studio visits, thereby enhancing involvement for the client. When the sculptural image is agreed as complete by both the client and Holly, the mould making process begins. A wax positive is created to become the core of an investment mould from which the bronze sculpture will be formed. The bronze is then cast, patinated and prepared for installation.
There is a three-part staged payment schedule that enables the client to maintain an intimate connection with the commissioned work during the sculptural process.
Thorough consultation occurs before transcending each milestone, thus providing transparency and control for the client. The installation of the sculpture is the last milestone where the final payment is given.
